Lanzarote Calete de Famara
Auf Lanzarote gibt es eine Vielzahl guter Surfspots und wird zu Recht, nicht nur wegen der Vulkane, das Hawaii Europas genannt.
Der Ort Caleta de Famara liegt im Nordwesten von der Vulkaninsel Lanzarote. Der Massentourismus spielt sich hier in Famara nicht ab, allerdings ist es der Surferhauptort. Die Leute, die zum Surfen auf die Insel kommen, landen auf jeden Fall früher oder später dort.
Der Ort liegt am Westende des etwa 6 km langen Strandes von Famara. Im Osten wird dieser eingerahmt von der über 600 Meter hohen Steilküste “El Risco”. Ein atemberaubender Blick und jeden Abend bei Sonnenuntergang ein einmaliges Schauspiel der Farben.
Die Bucht von Famara, die Steilküste, die im Norden vorgelagerten Inseln und ein Großteil der Landschaft um das Dorf herum, bilden das Naturschutzgebiet “Archipielago Chinijo”. Schützenswert sind hier die einzigartige Flora und Fauna – sowohl zu Land als auch unter Wasser!
Der nächste Ort – Teguise – ist in etwa 15 Minuten mit dem Auto zu erreichen.
On the island Lanzarote you can find a lot of very good surf spots and it’s called, not only because of is vulcanos, Hawaii of Europe. The village Caleta de Famara lies in the Northwest of the Island. Famara is the main Spot for surfers, though it is not a place where mass tourism takes place. All surfers who visit Lanzarote will come sooner or later there.
The small town is located at the western end of the 6 km long beach of Famara. On the eastside it is framed of the 600m high cliff line ‘El Risco’, a jaw-dropping view every evening when the sun sets. The bay, the cliff line, the northerly lien islands off the coast and a huge part of the landscape around the Famara build the nature reserve ‘Archipielago Chinijo’. To protect are here the one-of-a-kind flora and fauna, both ashore and underwater!
The next town – Teguise – is ca. 15 min by car away from Famara.
